Advanced Beginner to Expert.

The Clara Wristlet is both practical and ideal to showcase complimentary quilting cottons. It also does not require a large amount of fabric, so check your stash! This is the perfect wallet/phone case for summer outings, lazy days by the pool, lake or ocean or to conveniently carry just the essentials when you are out and about.

In the class, you will learn: how to make and ID Window and credit card slots from quilting cotton; how to insert a zipper on a curve; how to add a zipper pull to zipper tape; and how to achieve a clean topstitching. I will share some of my tips and trips to get the best results. You will also learn how to install some basic hardware components including adding rivets to wallet to add strength and visual appeal to your project.

I will provide clear vinyl for the ID window.

Supply List:

  • The Clara Wristlet Pattern available at: https://www.rlrcreations.com/pdfpatterns/claracompanion
  • Fabric according to the pattern instructions (I recommend having a little extra, just in case, BUT I recommend Decovil Light instead of Pellon Décor Bond. (We will be trimming the seam allowances from the main exterior pieces to reduce bulk in these areas).
  • Zippers: One 7” or longer #5 zipper and one 12” or longer #5 zipper. Please note that the pattern calls for #3 zippers. I recommend using a # 5 zipper, preferably #5 zipper tape and two pulls. (These are available at Pocono Sew & Vac).
  • 1” Swivel Hook
  • D-Ring
  • Sewing Machine in good working order
  • Standard machine foot
  • Zipper foot
  • Edge foot (helpful but not required)
  • Coordinating thread and a full bobbin
  • Clover or similar clips
  • Pins
  • Cutting tools (scissors, snips, rotary cutter)
  • Awl (helpful but not required)
  • Seam ripper
  • 90/14 Universal needle
  • Jeans or Topstitching needle

Class Homework: Please have your pattern pieces cut out and labeled prior to class.  This includes the exterior pieces and the Decovil light.
