Skill Level: FOR AGES 8 & UP - Confident Beginner – must have previous sewing experience.
In this class we will make this fun and functional drawstring backpack that features a zippered pocket. This class will cover more advanced sewing techniques such as inserting zippers, creating boxed corners, and using pattern pieces. Finished measurements will be approx. 15.5” x 11” x 4”. Perfect for the beach, school, or sporting events!
Supply List:
- Sewing Machine in good working order and knowledge of how to thread it and wind a bobbin
- Bagged Lunch
- Zipper Presser Foot (Most machines come with a zipper foot. Not sure if you have one? Give us a call! We can tell you if this was included with your machine, or if you need to purchase one.)
- ¼” Presser Foot
- 5/8 yard Main Fabric (top exterior part of bag)
- ¼ Accent Fabric (for bottom contrast on exterior of bag)
- ½ yard Lining Fabric
- Matching Thread
- Zipper at least 12” long (no metal teeth. Coats & Clark zippers work best – available at PS&V)

- Tape Measure
- Erasable/Removable Marking Pen/Pencil
- Seam Ripper (most machines come with a seam ripper)
- Fabric Scissors
- 80/12 universal sewing needle
- 90/14 denim sewing needle

Class Cancellation Policy
To reserve a seat, all Pocono Sew & Vac classes must be paid in full upon registration. In the event that a student needs to cancel their reservation for a class, they should notify PS&V at least 7 days in advance (by phone) to be eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made less than 7 days before class will not be issued a refund.
If a class does not have the minimum number of participants 7 days prior to class day, the teacher will cancel class. The customer will be fully refunded within 7 to 10 business days. Any questions call PS&V at 800-442-8227.
Some classes require homework to be done before class, such as cutting/prepping fabrics. If homework is required, it will be posted in the class description. Please read the class description thoroughly before signing up before a class. If homework is not done by the start of class, you will not be able to attend, and a refund will not be issued. If you have any questions regarding class homework, please call the store and we will be happy to help.
